IRELAND West Airport, formerly Knock Airport, had another record year in 2018, with more than 770,000 passengers. That beat its previous record of 750,000.

The airport said its performance was boosted by flights to and from the UK, with an extra 21,600 passengers flying on those routes in 2018, up 3pc on 2017.

Passenger numbers on Flybe services to Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester reached record levels, while 82,000 passengers travelled on Aer Lingus’ Gatwick route.
